The islet of Bangon together with the islet of cambaye is an two – of -two branching river that is one of the 13 brgys. of the municipality of pagsanghan .The name “bangon” means “tayo” but why is that it is named bangon? that’s one of the questions of the people that even us can’t identify where this name came from…
But based from the old citizens who lived in bangon, bangon is not actually located where it is place now, it is located in the place which is called now as”bangon sapa” …
But as of the bangonanon’s now they dont care anymore where bangon came from the only thing that is important for them is that they live peacefully in the place named bangon ..

Many years has passed this “kampo “had been covered with the roots of a large tree that is commonly called “Dalakit” in waray and they started to called it Baluarte for some reason. They also believe that this baluarte is guided by a mythical or supernatural creature such as; tsanak, whitelady and etc. for they believe that it is one of the victim of the past war happen in that “kampo” or “Baluarte”.
Peddlers from Bohol came to trade with the people of pagsanghan who where better of economically. Fisher man from Boholanon’s were attracted by the rich natural resources of pagsanghan and settled in the place In 1979, the place was petitioned to be a township and was converted into a municipality on Oct. 10, 1979 The influential leader of samar, Hon. Jose a Rono, who. Was then the minister of local Government and community Development and Hon. Cong Fernando No.86 to make pagsanghan a constituted municipality, the bill was approved and finally rafified through a referendum.
